Distinction for Export Excellence in the Made in Greece Awards

Selonda was awarded with an honorable distinction in the category “Export Excellence” of the “Made in Greece Awards 2013” organized by the Greek Marketing Academy. 25 companies participated in the specific category and were evaluated based on their export performance. It important to note, as stated at the awards ceremony by the Minister of Agricultural Development, Athanasios Tsaftaris, that “agricultural food exports have a dominant position in the top ten export products of Greece”. Sea Bream (a.k.a. “Dorade Royale”, “Orata” or “Dorada”) and Sea Bass (a.k.a. “Branzino”, “Loup de Mer” or “Bar”), the two flagship products of Greek Aquaculture, are the number one Greek food product in terms of total export value.

The companies that participated in the “Export Excellence” category of the “Made in Greece” awards were evaluated based on the total exports value in 2012, exports’ share of total sales and exports’ share of total turnover during the past three years. Other criteria included the number of years that each company has been exporting its products, the number of export markets that have been penetrated, the Greek origin of the products, the participation of materials made in Greece in the company’s production process as well as the degree of added value to the Greek economy.

The main purpose of the Made in Greece awards is to nominate and reward companies and producer organizations that produce or manufacture products in Greece and create significant added value to the Greek economy. 122 companies participated in all of the awards’ categories and the evaluation committees were made up of university professors, members of the Greek Marketing Academy as well as representatives of the many companies and organizations that support the “Made in Greece” awards.
